Containers for Worms

The kind of container you need depends, of course, on the amount of worm food you generate. bianca's babies relayed to her this formula: 1 cubic foot of space per pound of food a week. bianca's babies also told her that worms need as much surface area they can get. Well, don't get carried away. The box should still be deep enough to bury stuff in. A good sized box for one or two people is about 2 feet long, 2 feet wide, and maybe 8 inches deep. One of those milk cartons that stores are selling for furnature is a good option for people who don't throw out alot of vegetable matter. A good size for a family is 3 feet by 2 feet by 1 foot deep.

Other than size, the only other tip bianca received was that ventilation holes help the heap breathe, thereby decreasing the population of those evil anaerobic stinkers. bianca's babies assured her that the worms won't try to escape through the holes. bianca's not 100% sure she buys this, so it may be a good idea to put your box on some newspaper or plastic or something like that. Maybe they won't try to escape, but bianca can just imagine what sort of worm antics might be going on in those boxes. Worms are smutty.
